GP access to cardiac CT
Streamilined access to cardiac CT for the investigation of angina provided to general practitioners in the Covid environment.
About this service
The social distancing necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in reduced access to important cardiac investigations for many patients. An area of particular concern is the investigation of chest pain or breathlessness that may represent angina.
As patients and referrers understandably seek to minimize the number of face-to-face consultations, the Melbourne Heart Group is offering a streamlined service to access cardiac CT scanning at Cabrini Hospital. In this new service, patients with symptoms that may represent cardiac ischaemia can be offered a Medicare-rebated cardiac CT at Cabrini Hospital without prior physician review.
The referral form for this service can be downloaded here, please returned to us by email or fax. One of our cardiologists will then review the referral and organize the investigation at Cabrini Hospital. A follow up appointment (telephone or face to face consultation) will also be booked where one of our cardiologists will explain the results of the test to your patient.
